Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a girl named Kavitha. She was a very kind-hearted girl. Her mother had passed away when she was very young, and her father had remarried. Kavitha’s father cherished her deeply. At that time, Kavitha lived with her father and her stepmother, who had a daughter named Mala.

Kavitha’s stepmother did not like her at all. For some reason, she would treat Kavitha very harshly. All the household chores were given to Kavitha, and she performed them all without complaint.

One day, Kavitha’s stepmother gave her a handful of sesame seeds and asked her to clean them thoroughly, instructing her not to leave even a single seed dirty. Kavitha cleaned the seeds well and spread them out to dry in the sun.

At that moment, a hungry crow flew by. Upon seeing the sesame seeds, the crow was overjoyed and quickly began eating them. Seeing the crow so hungry, Kavitha did not shoo it away but let it eat its fill.

Once the crow had satisfied its hunger, it thanked Kavitha and asked if there was anything it could do for her. Kavitha replied that she needed nothing in return. However, the crow insisted that if she ever needed assistance, she should visit the temple tree where it resided.

When Kavitha’s stepmother returned home and noticed that some of the sesame seeds were missing, she inquired about it. Upon learning the details, she scolded Kavitha severely and demanded that she leave the house if she could not provide the seeds.

With a heavy heart and no other option, Kavitha went to the temple tree to find the crow. There, she explained her situation with great sorrow. The crow, moved by her predicament, invited her to its home.

At the crow’s home, there were numerous bags of sesame seeds and grains. The crow said to Kavitha, “You helped me when I was hungry. As a token of my gratitude, please take one of these bags of sesame seeds.” Kavitha accepted a bag of seeds and prepared to leave. The crow then added, “You are a very kind person. I would like to give you a gift.” It presented her with a golden biscuit, saying, “This is a gift for your kindness. Please do not give it to anyone else.”

Kavitha took the biscuit and returned home. She presented the bag of sesame seeds to her stepmother, who was pleased and inquired how Kavitha had obtained them. Kavitha recounted the entire story.

The stepmother, now filled with greed, immediately summoned his own daughter, named Mala and told her to go to the temple tree, give the crow a bag of sesame seeds, and ask for more bags of sesame seeds and more golden biscuits in return.

Mala, following her mother’s orders, went to the temple tree and told the crow, “My sister Kavitha received a golden biscuit from you. I have brought sesame seeds for you, and I want more golden biscuits in return.”

The crow, understanding Mala’s greed, said, “here is the gift", It flew over above to her and pee on her head and quickly flew away, Mala started crying and leaving with frustrated.

Mala returned home crying and told her mother what had happened. The mother, enraged, called Kavitha and demanded the golden biscuit given by the crow. Kavitha gave that golden biscuit to her stepmother. Once in her stepmother's hands, the golden biscuit turned into a normal biscuit.

Seeing this, the stepmother was furious and asked Kavitha, "Is this golden Biscuit that crow presented, keep it youself", The normal biscuit transformed back into its golden form once Kavitha had it again.

The moral of the story is that we should not be greedy. Whether good or bad, what we receive in life is always in accordance with our own nature, and God rewards us accordingly.

MORAL
When we help others with the expectation of something in return, we often end up disappointed.
True peace comes from helping others selflessly, without expecting anything in return.
